Works so Far....

I bought this intercooler about 2 weeks ago since I play for a couple hours straight and bricked my previous 2 60gb launch PS3's (blurays wouldnt read anymore and ylod). So with this slim I decided no matter how quiet it is I was going to buy a cooling fan when one was available for my 120gb slim. So far its good, despite what the previous review said it fit pretty secure (as long as you dont move the unit around which shouldnt be a problem) and stays flush only thing is you really have to stick the ac plug in really hard to push it all they way in the intercooler. It does make the slim louder put not as loud as my old PS3's not a big deal, and after awhile if you do put your hand over the fans you can feel all the hot air it spits out. So when it comes to sucking hot air out it is doing its job. The only major problem I had with it was a couple of days later I noticed it wouldnt turn off after shutting down my PS3, I thought I had a defective unit but figured out what was causing it. The problem was I had remote play "on" so I can get my PSP to turn on my PS3 on remotley as long as i had a internet connection, so even though i shut down my PS3 just the fact they wireless connection was still on the unit (evident by the wireless light still blinking when the unit is off) despite the PS3 being shut off it would still keep the fans on. So turning the option back off solved that problem and now the fans shut off when I turn my system off. So if you play for a couple hours straight and want piece of mind I suggest you go and buy this. Four stars for me but 1 star docked for the minor problems of fan not shutting off problem, ac plug hard as heck to plug in, and minor fan noise.

Noise Problem

I didn't read all the comments on amazon but so far nobody has mentioned the buzzing noise that happens after about 3 weeks of use. I bought one of these for my 250 slim and i start buzzing after about 3 weeks. Sounds like one of the fans vibrating loose. By the time I got around to returning it the 30 day was up. So I bought another one, same thing after about 4 weeks. This time it got progresivly louder to the point when it was unbearable. So I unclipped it and piched it in the trash. This product is a POS.

What a pile of junk! I was having problems with my PS3 overheating and found this product for only $20 so I figured, why not. Well I should have listened to the other bad reviews it got before I purchased it. It is LOUD...even on low speed it is LOUD. Then after 2 weeks of listening to its loudness it starts making an even worse screeching noise! DO not waste your money on this!!
