5Great Headset!
By Carmine
When i started to shop around for a gaming headset, i mostly heard about two main brands: Turtle Beach and Triton. Many people say that you can't go wrong with either. But, while shopping around, I came across Sharkoon. There really isn't much online in regards to this headset, so i figured i would check out their higher-end headset. (The X-Tatic 5.1 with surround sound) This headset received fantastic reviews across the boards. I figured if the company made quality headsets, i would check out the x-tatic sp...even without any reviews online. And i am not disappointed. What made me reluctant to go with the Turtle Beach PX21 headset is how it looked. It was not very sexy. The Triton AX-180 looked nice, but it was $80. Since the x-tatic sp was $10 cheaper, i figured i would check them out. Not only is the sound excellent and crisp, but the headset is extremely comfortable and is continuously comfortable for long periods of time (which is important for a gaming headset). My brother has the Triton AXPROs and he loved this headset. (for those of you who don't know, the AXPROs have surround sound and are the top of the line Tritons) Why spend more than double the money to get surround sound when you can get a great sounding headset at this price range? And, for those of you who doubt the price of a stereo gaming headset, it is totally worth the price. I have never used one before while gaming...and it makes a total difference. People aren't lying when they say they hear things they didn't hear before. Its true! When you run by trees/brush you hear the rustle as you run by. You hear footsteps. Gun fire and other sounds help you locate where the shots are being fired so you can find the enemy. Even without a 5.1 surround sound headset (which really only refers to the amount of speakers in the ear cup to produce that surround sound feeling) you hear the sounds as if you were in the middle of the action. Shooting games just feel like they were made to be played with a headset like this. So, if you are in the market for a stereo gaming headset, i can't knock the Turtle Beachs or Tritons, but i can definitely say that these would not disappoint. Great sound quality and comfortability...all you need in a gaming headset!

5These things are great!
By whitey anderson
I really dig using my expensive and well thought out home theater system to play Battlefield on w/ my PS3. But, my wife doesn't dig it quite as much especially when I have a bit more free time and go on a marathon session. I bought this headset after reading the reviews and figured if I didn't like them, I'd just send them back. I have to say that I'd never really heard of Sharkoon but I'm really impressed with these headphones. I doubt that you get any added benefits out of a "5.1 or 7.1" headphone set, so save your money. A true 5.1 or 7.1 system relies on placement of the speakers and it's impossible to place 5.1 or 7.1 speakers correctly inside a pair of headphones.More to the fact, these things sound really, really good. They have a good amount of low end for my Battlefield action. The highs are crisp too. And the wife can't complain too much when I'm gaming in silence. These thing can go really loud so be careful. They seem to be really well made and should last quite awhile. The snap in microphone works well as well.Couple notes- if you like to play further away from your console, invest a couple dollars into a USB extension cable. The usb port provides the power and also is for the microphone as well. The included USB cable is pretty long but, I like to sit further back. Also with the PS3 make sure you have your original video/audio output cable. This is what the headphones hook into for the sound. Other than that you're good to go. The headset has 2 volume controls - for the headphones and mic respectively as well as a mute switch for the Mic. If you are going to be using these off and on and still want to use your A/V receiver also make sure you select the "mutiple audio output" selection in the PS3 settings panel. This will allow you to switch between your headset and A/V receiver/ TV without having to constantly make any changes in the settings.

5Study, study and look @ The Sharkoon X-Tatic SP!
By amanra72
After reading literally HUNDREDS of headset reviews before making a purchase, I decided it was only fair to write one of my own. In all fairness and disclosure, I have no previous gaming experience with a headset at all. I've been playing the last four Call Of Duty games on Playstation 3 with only a BlueTooth mic hanging on my ear. I have, however, maxed out the Prestige levels online for the last three games and am close to Prestige level 4 on Black OPS. I only add this to express that I do have quite a bit of online experience. I feel I am qualified to be an accurate and fair judge of what may or may not be "game-changing". I decided on the Sharkoon X-Tatic SP headset. The main factors for the decision were price and reviews. At around $60-$70, I felt I could get the quality I was looking for without feeling that I spent too much. There were only a few negative reviews, but you have to be willing to throw out 20-30% of reviews just based on "fan-boy" loyalties and anything written by someone under the age of 20. No offense, just percentages people! Again to be fair, I just received my new headset today. If at anytime in the future something goes wrong with these or changes my opinion, I will immediately update this review. I honestly will. That being said, I can't believe how amazing these are! They are stereo, so super-techie-guy that has to have Dolby 5.1 surround likely need not apply. However, I would contend that most "regular" gamers would be extremely happy with this headset. It feels very durable, fits comfortably and sets up in a breeze! The instructions comes in about 40 languages and are really just pictures diagramming what each cable or button is, but you should be able to figure it out quickly. You will need your original AV cable that came with your PS3. (I can't speak for X-Box, but it looks equally simple) The audio is remarkable. Yes, there is a slight hiss that some have complained about, but only when there was no other sound. I really didn't find it bothersome. I've been gaming on low volume for years so as not to wake my wife and kids. NO MORE! I had no concept of how detailed and actually important the sound design could be until I HEARD IT! Like a virgin catching his first frag to the groin, I was laughing with joy! I do believe that these will be "game-changing". Now I'm a run-n-gunner through and through. I never sit still. I'm not fire-miss-hide-in-the-corner-guy. I will run straight at your face over and over and if that fails, loop around and shank you in the neck. What will change now is that I can possibly die "a little less"! Haha.... after playing with these on for an hour, I was averaging about 25 kills to 9 deaths on TDM. My kills are generally around there on a normal basis, but many times my deaths are in the higher teens. I could hear so clearly when someone was near that i had to adjust my reaction time! The sound quality reproduced through the Sharkoon headset is remarkable. I feel that I have spent wisely. I was so impressed that I turned off my system and sat down to write this review. There are many, many different types of headsets out there. Most of them cost double and triple what these do. Why? I'm even glad I didn't spend more for the next model up Sharkoon's! I'm sure they're amazing, but I have no need to spend that much. The Sharkoon X-Tatic SP is an amazing, quality product, in my opinion. They are very comfortable to wear. I felt no strain at all on my neck. Everything about these screams quality. I've read enough horror stories about the other brands to be really, really happy with this purchase!Add me on PSN...amanra72
