Afterglow AP.1 Controller for PS3 - Green
Product Description
The AFTERGLOW family of controllers breaks new ground in form, features, and radiant aesthetics, delivering gamers an experience sure to have them glowing. The appearance of the AFTERGLOW controllers is defined by clear a polycarbonate body plastic, within which red, blue, or green circuit boards and components reside. Amplifying the theme, multitudes of LEDs within the controllers glow in hues matching the circuit board color. The result is a truly vibrant glow in both light and dark gaming situations. The AFTERGLOW AP.1 for the PS3 features L2 and R2 triggers modeled upon PDP’s popular REAL TRIGGERS add-ons for PS3 controllers. It also provides a refined analog stick location similar to the Xbox 360 style analog stick placement for FPS advantage with an ergonomically modeled grip built for comfort and competition. Each AFTERGLOW controller allows the player to adjust the LED settings to: on, off, or vibration (activates when controller rumble motors spin).

Good controller for $24.99. Stick with PS3 Sixaxis.
By Bryan A. Chansler
The Afterglow AP.1 "New for 2010" controller is a good controller if you consider the price comparison to a PS3 Sixaxis controller. The lights are cool and it is responsive but not nearly as responsive as the $44.99 PS3 controllers are. Considering I paid $24.99 for it, I can't complain. I used this controller to play MLB10 The Show and I was able to play the game very easily with this controller. Again, the Sixaxis controller is far more responsive. If you want another controller to actually play competitively with, stick with what works. If you want a cool looking, fun to play with in the dark controller which you'll use just to have a little fun without needing it to be completely responsive, the Afterglow controller should be fine.

You can use it for a nightlight . . .
By R. R. Delisle
. . . but I wouldn't bother trying to play any games with it. The control sticks on this piece are horribly unresponsive, a small detail that make a big difference in most games. But I will admit the lights are pretty.

Terrible product
By R. D. Whitsell
I'll admit, the controller looks great when plugged in. That's about it, however. I play a lot of First Person Shooters, so I figured the altered L2 and R2 shoulder buttons would help me play more competitively(The buttons are dropped in the back to encourage using both pointer and middle fingers, rather than controlling all four buttons with just the pointer fingers.) The L2 and R2 are poorly designed, though, being both hard to push in due to over coiled springs and are they're very noisy when pushed. The analog sticks are also fairly unresponsive causing a "dead zone," which is when the player has to completely push the analog sticks over to get a response, rather than movement at the slightest touch. For those that care, the controller is also wired, so it's not as convenient as a wire-free controller. Also note that this controller is not compatible with Playstation 2 games being played on the PS3, since the PS3 does not recognize the controller when trying to play a Playstation 2 game on it. This was also a surprise to me, for I still have quite the collection of Playstation 2 games which I play on my PS3.A very poor product.
