The Good and The Bad, You Decide

I picked up this vertical stand at GameStop today, and as far as first impressions go it is a well made product. The plastic is up to the task and the carbon fiber finish is ok. Setting up the PS3 slim using this stand is easy, just press the base against the left side of the ps3 and is done. now the detailsThe Good+Nice looking finish+solid base with good grip on the bottom for protecting against slipping on a smooth surface+It works as advertisedThe Bad-The base lacks some kind of lock in mechanism (like the Sony brand stand), the way it secures the PS3 in position is with 4 rubber bumps providing some security so that it stays on with the PS3 if it is lifted to move it or something BUT this is where the main con follows...-This wont prevent the PS3 from falling down if the pressure is applied on the left side (top when horizontal). For example, when using this product on an open space like on top of a tv table and the PS3 where to be pushed by accident on its left side the console will almost immediately get lose from the base and it will go down in a second notice.Overall, a nice product with a fatal flaw--> it cant hold the PS3 securely on a vertical position if it were to take an accidetal hit from the left side. This is enough for me to take it back to the store and look for a better option

It's a dark carbon-fiber pattern that isn't as light-toned or obvious as it appears in the photos. I was concerned it would look ugly but I must admit it doesn't look that bad. Besides when the system is on my eyes are on the TV anyway. You sort of just wedge your PS3 slim in there and it could be sturdier with a sightly wider base, but it would take a pretty good bump to tip this thing over. It also has a strong chemical/rubbery smell that you'll notice if you're close to the thing, like to plug in accessories to the USB ports,etc. Not a knock...just weird.

Its good but your playstation is going to wiggle a little. it needs a better fit. Still worth the 7 dollars though!
