Incredibly Useful for PS3 Owners who Had PS2s

If you are getting your hands on a PlayStation 3 and have any PS2 games that you used to play on a PlayStation 2, then it is really important to get your hands on this memory card adaptor.In essence the memory card adaptor is a little box that you can put your PS2 memory card into. A cable then plugs into the PS3's USB port. This is the only way to get the save games from your PS2 into your PS3 so you can then use them with your PS2 games.Almost every PS3 owner I have spoken with owns a PS2 and many PS2 games. They intend to keep playing those PS2 games on the PS3. This is especially true with epic PS2 games like Final Fantasy XII. There's no reason to start again from scratch! The memory card adaptor is rather cheap, and saves you weeks if not months of play time.The act of moving save games is really very easy. Simply put your PS2 memory card into the small unit. On the PS3 console, select the card. It asks you to give a name to the "storage area" on your PS3's hard drive. For my 8 memory cards, I just named those storage areas CARD1 - CARD8, so that they matched up with the cards. Then you hit a button, and wait about 2 minutes while the files are moved.Once they're on your PS3's hard drive, you're all set! You can view the save games, delete the ones you don't want any more, and use them to play with.Definitely a must-have for a PS3 owner who has any PS2 memory cards lying around - or who has friends who might visit with PS2 games and cards. Sure, the PS3 games are great - but there are a TON of PS2 games out there that are a lot of fun, too. This little device lets you take advantage of all that time you've already invested in the game.

Memory Card Adapter

It does exactly what it claims to, copy your PS1 and PS2 memory card files over to your PS3. It's only useful if your PS3 is backwards compatible ie. the 80 GB or 60 GB versions. And even then, you only need to use it once. I recommend getting it used since I'm sure the seller will have only used it once and it will still be in perfect condition.

Works perfectly

After waiting months for this product to be released, I finally received my order today. Of course I ripped the box open and tried it right away with my Roland TD-9 drum kit.... And it worked flawlessly. I 5-starred the first sing I tried on Expert Pro Drums... A song I know well enough to perform on stage. It's amazing to finally play the song in RB3, instead of playing the game. Now the fun is more about learning all of the more complex parts to my favorite songs. Could hardly be more happy with the adapter. The build quality is great, except that the PS logo on the PS button fell off immediately upon handling the unit itself, but it's easy to understand they just paste on the PS or Xbox logo depending on the unit. All the other buttons have great action, for what it's worth.Two minor points to be aware of:- You WILL need a MIDI cable to connect this adapter to your instrument of choice; one does not come bundled.- You may (probably will) want to change the MIDI value on your drums so that an open hi-hat triggers as a blue cymbal... If your drums support such a feature.

Flawless implementation

It works perfectly on a 8 yr old Casio Keyboard. Once I acquired a MIDI cable it took me longer to figure out the keys (10 seconds) than the setup.Don't FORGET to have a MIDI to MIDI cable!!!!As a long time ROCK BAND fan I am totally happy with the purchase.

Works pefectly but wish it had some additional features

I have been using my Roland TD-3 drumkit with the Rock Band games since Rock band 1. I was using an adapter designed by a guy named "Seth" over on the Rock Band forums. It was a crude little device but it was programmable, worked with both RB and Guitar Hero and was fully upgradeable everytime a new version of the game came out. Sadly, due to a lightning storm a week ago, my 3 year old adapter got fried. I was about to contact "Seth" and ask about getting a new one but I then saw the Midi Pro adpater as a gold box special on Amazon. The price was a lot less than what I paid 3 years ago for the custom adapter so I decided to give this a try first.I recieved the adapter and easily hooked it up to my drum kit. I already had a midi cable due to my other adapter so I was up and running within minutes. I did not have to calibrate anything or adjust any crossover settings. This thing just worked perfectly with my Rock Band 3 game. I was able to play like nothing had changed.The only downside to this adpater is that it is not programmable like my other custom one. I was able to switch modes on my old adapter to work with Guitar Heroes additional mapped lane but I can't see a way to change that here. I was also able to change various mapping on my old adapter and the also cannot be done with this one. I have not found a way to map an open hi-hat pedal yet with this Midi pro.But overall, I am very happy that I could get something this cheap to do 90% of what my much more expensive adapter did. I hate Guitar Hero anyway so I don;t think its a huge loss. I just wish that this adapter was available 3 years ago!

Perfect controller. I have no idea what these people are talking about!

Some common sense needs to enter into this discussion!! Why would you buy this controller to play 2D games? Who cares about the D-Pad being loud? One guy was complaining that his hands went naturally to the trigger(that is kind of the point here!!) Another complained that the lights in the handle are not lit up all the time!!Geez, don't listen to these whiners!! Here is the true review from a PS3 lover who has played dozens and dozens of games(I have probably played over 100 games by now actually) This controller is an XBox controller COPY. If you don't like the Xbox controller, YOU WILL NOT LIKE THIS ONE as it is practically identical. THe only real difference is the sticks are lined up next to each other(like they ought to be) rather than offset like the Xbox controller. How much of a copy is it? Well the battery compartment looks and functions exactly the same. R1 and L1 are now digital BUMPERS. THey are not analog and really suck if you have a game that does not let you change the firing/aiming/grenade throwing controls over the R2 and L2.Regarding using R2 for shooting, I found that most games either already use that configuration(basically every third party game with a few exceptions(All Call of Duty games, Dead Space and Fallout 3 come to mind) but even those let you change the controller settings easily enough. Even First party titles like Resistance 1 and 2 let you change the firing controls over. If you get a game that doesn't let you, I would recommend using the good old Dual Shock 3.That being said, I no longer have an XBox but I have to admit that I liked the controller--especially for shooters. For action games requiring mashing of buttons, I have always found the Six Axis Dual Shock 3 to be much better just due to the lighter weight of the thing.The sticks on this controller are precise and the triggers are the best I have seen on a PS3 controller. Someone really did it right. To make it even better, Bluetooth means just plug the controller in once and it is paired. Rumble and Six Axis functions are fully supported. The only negatives are that the D-Pad is kind of sloppy(you have to press pretty hard to make it work sometimes--a little annoying but not even close to a deal breaker) and it does not have built in rechargeable batteries so I bought some for 10 bucks and am now set.This controller does have a Turbo Feature which I could care less about. Not sure why so many people feel like they have to cheat to win at online games. And that is exactly what it is when you give yourself an advantage that the average user does not have. That being said, this is yet another reason why I don't play online games...In conclusion, this controller is great and well worth the money. Right now I am playing through two of my favorite FPSes again using this controller. F.E.A.R. and Resistance Fall of Man. How much has it helped. Well I am about half way through Resistance on HARD and I am playing F.E.A.R. easily on normal(the first time I went back to easy just because the AI of the bad guys is UNBELIEVABLE!!) Now I am mowing these guys like nobody's business. I will probably play it again on Hard once I complete it this second time!!

I have had this remote for a while now and I found it great for the price but if you are willing to spend more, don't get this. It is powered by two AA batteries which makes the battery life very short, seeing that you can't charge it with the usb cable.The good things are you can program it to any button by holding the turbo button until it lights up, then choosing the button(s) you want to have turbo( rapidly pressing the button by just holding it is what turbo is)the letting go of the button. You can use either the PS button or the turbo button to set the speeds from fast, medium, or slow. The bad thing is that on the fastest setting, its not the fastest but still good. There are more pricey controllers that go faster but as i said, for the price, its a great deal.One real annoyance is not the sound of the d pad as some people complained, but the shape of the controller. For all those FPS games people play like Mw2 or Battlefield the bottom of the controller or the handles, are very lumpy and make your fingers at an odd position to press the shoot button. My solution was setting the button setting on MW2 to default flipped in the "more..." section of the button setting. Hope it helped. Perfect fit

So far so good with this replacement laser. It's been a few weeks now and I have had no reoccurring problems. I have heard of replacement lenses wearing out within a few months time, and I will be sure to append this review if such a thing occurs, but so far it appears to be smooth sailing.If you are tech savvy enough to do the repair yourself I would recommend buying this part, its certainly cheaper and quicker than sending in your console to the repair shop.The box I saved is one of the big 60GB, I do not know if a different part is needed for one of the newer generation playstations. Good luck to anyone attempting a repair

My PS3 60GB stopped reading all discs; after watching many YouTube tutorials, I ordered the part and everything is as good as new again. (There's a white plastic piece from your old laser you'll need to transfer to the replacement laser.) Item arrived in a plastic case which protected the laser from any damage. It's a good idea to disassemble your Blu-ray drive first to verify the part# as different model PS3's have different laser part#'s as they're NOT interchangeable.

Working Well So Far

I installed this laser after my PS3 stopped reading (and therefore spinning) any kind of media disk. Here's my thoughts in bullet point since I don't feel like writing creatively to make a nice story.- Don't be nervous about doing this yourself. I managed to have tiny gears in the loading arm fall out and I was able to cobble it back together. The Blu Ray drive mechanisms are pretty robust. I even did this without any of the proper screw drivers. I spent a lot of time making life much more difficult for myself, so just follow the guides available and don't be stupidly adventurous like me. But if you do something silly, it is not the end of the world and it is not hard to fix.- Get the right tools. It will save you a lot of time.- I used tiguy99's guide to do this since I prefer pictures to a video, some Googling will find the PDF for you.- My new laser did not have any plastic protecting the lens for shipping, but supposedly it might so check for that before installing.- If you want to be lazy, only the guide rail on the motor side needs to be taken out; the other one can stay and the laser can still be removed.- You do need one white plastic clip from your old laser, but it's one screw and is easy to transfer.- There's one review on here that claims the part stopped working after a month, so if that happens I'll come back and yell about it.- My laser came in two days with standard shipping.- So far, so good. Easy install and my dumb PS3 is back working properly.
